Things To Remember Before a Gig

Performing on a gig is like a battle, you must be prepared. Your weapons and gears should be double checked because going to the battle unprepared is suicide. Same goes with performing on stage. A drummer without an extra pair of sticks is committing suicide. Guitarists who didn’t checked the tune of his guitar is completely the same. So you see, this is a very critical part of your career, so prep up for it. Check this few things out to help you in your preparation.

  1. Double check your accessories.

-          Check if you brought with you your cords, gadgets, batteries for your wireless apparatus, extra strings and slings.

  1. Tune your guitar.

-          Tune your guitar or guitars ahead of time. No matter how good you are in playing but if your guitar is out of tune, you will still sound like total crap, so double check it, tune it or have your techie do it for you.

  1. Sound check

-          This is the most important and the most critical part as well. Always do sound check hours before your performance. This way your output will be properly mixed, you’ll get used to the feel and sound and you could also suggest and check you settings and your monitors and stuff.

Follow these basic reminders and you will be up and running and will perform a worry free gig.

Rock is dead

So they say, rock music is no longer the mainstream. Everybody is trying to be electronic or whatever. Hip-hop  and party music still rules the charts. What happen to good old rock and roll? Well, those who managed to stay in the scene like U2, OASIS, Coldplay and others are still here, but those who weren’t marketable enough and the new rock bands that emerged won’t see the light of the day. Everything is about money nowadays, even music. To music moguls, music is business, talents are business. Everything is money – making and if you aren’t marketable enough, you won’t get the benefits of the marketable ones.

What happen to the good old rock and roll? Radios won’t play them, they won’t risk it. They will only play what the majority wants to hear. And the majority of radio listeners nowadays are teen girls who know nothing about music. For them, Justin Bieber is the best thing that ever happens to their lives. They think that he’s the complete package. A young boy that sings like crap, talks black and has an emu haircut. Perfect.

The world has surely changed into something unlikeable. Let’s make a change by supporting the real musicians, the real people who makes real music.
